The majority of training courses for interpreters teach about the consecutive mode as part of their curriculum. Consecutive interpreting is used the majority of the time in the medical setting, and while most courses offer some practice on this mode of interpretation, it often does not go in depth. In this era of social distancing, the need to adapt to remote platforms like Zoom, Cisco, Webex, etc., has increased greatly, and note taking has become an essential skill to render complete and accurate messages. In this webinar participants will review the phases of the consecutive mode of interpreting, the process of note-taking, and what works and hasn’t worked for them, in an interactive environment.
Objectives
- Participants will learn the phases of consecutive interpreting, and how to to apply them in a remote interpreting setting.
- Participants will learn the key principles of effective and HIPAA compliant note-taking.
- Participants will practice remote interpreting consecutive and note-taking techniques, and share their experience in a virtual group setting.
